Protest: Security agencies embark on ‘Operation Show of Force’ in Taraba

Operatives of security agencies, on Friday, embarked on a show of force in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state.

The security agencies involved in the exercise include the Nigerian Army, NSCDC and the Police, among others.

DAILY POST learnt that the development was part of the measures put in place to ensure that the nationwide protest slated to commence on August 1, 2024, is not hijacked by hoodlums in the state.

The planned nationwide protest is geared at compelling the leadership of the country to put in place measures that will reduce the economic hardship Nigerians are currently passing through.

Emphasizing the primary objective of the exercise, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier Kingsley Uwa, said the ‘show of force’ was geared at ensuring the safety and security of the residents and people of the Taraba State.

“Our duty is to maintain law and order. We want to assure everybody that they can go about their lawful business without the fear of being intimidated,” he said.
