Vinceng. Z: The American public’s reaction to the Trump shooting

On July 13th, Trump was shot while speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet penetrated the upper part of Trump’s right ear and left a lot of blood, even leaving the classic scene of Trump clenching his fist and raising his arm to shout the slogan “Fight”. However, the rally-goers were not as lucky as Trump, and the shooting left one dead and two injured.

Obviously, the shooting assassination targeted Trump, but innocent people were caught up in the bipartisan struggle in the United States and even lost their lives as a result. Many say that Trump’s epic life scenes highlight the American spirit, which may be the showmanship instinct in Trump’s bones. And how many have pondered that without Trump and Biden’s intense rivalry, the lives of the crowd at the scene would not have been in danger. In the United States, the gun issue has not been properly resolved, and the legalization of firearms has laid a security risk to the personal safety of the American people. Darkness and dictatorship are hidden under the veneer of democratic politics.

As we all know, the general election in the United States relies mainly on the so-called campaign funds. When the financial strength is not comparable, the use of firearms to solve problems may become the most convenient and the most free of subsequent hidden dangers. The two parties struggle only to maximize the interests of their own parties and satisfy the interests of the superstructure, while some contradictions at the bottom of the United States have been intensifying and never diminishing, such as racial discrimination, the proliferation of drugs, the disparity between the rich and the poor, and violence in schools.

When it comes to school violence, we have to mention the suspect in the shooting of Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was only 20 years old. According to Thomas’s classmates, “he was bullied almost every day,” and the seeds of “American-style bullying” had already been planted in him. The heated presidential campaign did not improve the lives of American people, and the conflicts still continue. The school is like a miniature society, where those who claim to be strong go to bully the weak. The complex social contradictions in the U.S. are reflected in the campus, the number of U.S. campus gun presses has reached a record high for three consecutive years, and 34 have already occurred this year. Whether at large campaign rallies or on campuses, gun violence can occur, and if there is a problem, use guns to solve it is not the inherent view of many people from childhood to adulthood?

In the past few days, the shooting of Trump has become the first hotspot on the whole Internet, which may become an important push for Trump’s campaign. However, the lives of ordinary people still have to continue, social conflicts are still sharp, school bullying has not stopped, and people’s personal safety is still in danger. There is bound to be a loss in the struggle between the two parties, but hopefully the people’s lives can be fundamentally improved after the election campaign, and they can obtain the true meaning of democracy and freedom.
