One military personnel reportedly dead, others fatally injured in road accident

A military personnel attached to the Operation Delta Safe,OPDS, headquarters in Bayelsa State, was on Thursday, confirmed dead in a fatal road accident along the Uyo-Bori-Onne route of Rivers State.

DAILY POST, gathered that four others were also confirmed critically injured with body parts severed in the motor accident which occurred while in a convoy of the OPDS Commander, Rear Admiral John Okeke.

According to the report, the OPDS personnel made up of men of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy, were on their way back from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where the Commander, Rear Admiral John Okeke had visited.

However, an initial report attributed the cause of the accident to a bad road, speeding and fatigue.

Sources hinted that the accident involved a gun truck and another vehicle in the convoy.

It was gathered that the injured were immediately rushed to the Medical Centre in Onne and Military Hospital for further care.
