The Vice Chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Warri South, Pastor Kingsley Omonigho Oshogbo, on Saturday said the party has boycotted the ongoing Delta State Local Government election in Warri.
Oshogbo spoke with newsmen in Warri.
He said the election should be totally cancelled because officials of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, did not the follow the laid down rules and regulations of the exercise.
“As far as I am concerned, there’s no election in Warri,” he declared.
According to him, APC members demanded to see the result sheets for the election before DSIEC officials can begin the exercise.
Oshogbo said to their greatest dismay, the DSIEC officials did not come with any result sheets.
“We said since there’s no result sheet, there’s no need for us to cast our votes because the votes is not going to count.
“As law abiding citizens, we have asked our people that they should calm down. But we are not going to participate in this election as far as there’s no result sheet.
“As you can see, in the whole of Warri South, all over the wards, there’s no result sheet in any units. So, we have told our people that they should not participate in the election. Our agents should not sign any sheet for them. We have taken ourselves out of the election.”
Oshogbo expressed disappointment with Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, which according to him, is supposed to be non-partisan.
“In this election, I am surprised that DSIEC is being partisan, they’re being biased. Am really, really disappointed,” he lamented.
