The transmission company of Nigeria, TCN, has commissioned a 330/132/33 kilovolt transformer in Damaturu, Yobe State.
Ndidi Mbah, the company’s general manager of public affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to her, the commissioning was officially conducted on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Mbah said the facility will provide 166 megawatts of bulk power supply to Damaturu and its environment.
“This upgrade provides a total of 168MW of bulk electricity to Yola Disco to distribute to customers in Damaturu and surrounding areas.
“This development is a significant milestone in TCN’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s power transmission infrastructure,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have continued to suffer from epileptic power supply despite the recent electricity tariff hikes in the country.
