Transfer: Chelsea hands down from signing Nigerian-born forward for Maresca

Chelsea have given up hope of signing Nigerian-born forward, Samu Omorodion for their new manager, Enzo Maresca this summer.

The Premier League west London club will instead focus their attentions on alternative targets.

Omorodion, who currently plays his club football at Atletico Madrid, has been identified as Chelsea’s primary attacking target for the summer transfer window.

The Blues are determined to strengthen up front to help kick-start the Maresca era.

The likes of Victor Osimhen, Jhon Duran and Viktor Gyokeres have all been linked with Chelsea and reports last week suggested the club had launched a £42million bid to prise Omorodion away from Atletico Madrid.

However, this offer was rejected out of hand by the La Liga club and Chelsea have ‘had enough of hitting a wall’, according to MARCA.

The report added that the latest development has forced Chelsea to drop their pursuit of the 21-year-old star.
