Delta LG poll: We’ll resist attempts to rig – APC chieftain warns DSIEC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Chief Ayirimi Emami on Monday, said the party will resist any attempt by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, to write election results in favour of the chairmanship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming local government elections slated for Saturday, July 13.

Chief Emami made the assertion five days to the elections in Ogbe-Ijoh and Koko communities.

He spoke separately at the official flag off of the APC chairmanship candidates of Warri South-West and Warri North local government areas respectively.

Chief Emami said: “APC has come to stay. If they say they want to write results, we nor go gree na. We go invite BBC, AIT, Arise News, Big Pen, DAILY POST and all the small, small phones to the polling units and wards for the election. If you see anything, snap and send me from the election ground.”

He also said DSIEC should conduct a free, fair and credible election in the interest of justice.

Chief Emami who spoke in pidgin English, enjoined the APC faithful in the areas to come out en masse on election day and vote massively for the party’s candidates, namely Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore and Chief Samuel Omamuli.

He also President Bola Tinubu to give local government councils in the country autonomy to end corruption as well as local government election irregularities and manipulations by governors.

A leader of the APC in Koko, Warri North, Chief Mike Odeli, corroborated the claims of Chief Emami stressing that attempts to rig and manipulate the election results will be highly resisted. He said,”We will not allow it.”

APC Delta South chairman, Austin Oribioye said APC is ready for the election come Saturday, July 13. “Whatever they want to do, it’s no business as usual. We need quality people to represent us,” he said.
