The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong has stated that the Transition committee chairman of Uyo, Dr Uwemedimo E. Udo has redefined the office of the chairman.
The commissioner made the commendation on Thursday, at the inauguration of a building block, The Golden Technical Block, executed by the Uwemedimo Udo-led Transition committee, describing his performance as wonderful and worth emulating.
Archibong noted that he was impressed with the performance of the chairman and that he can comfortably say that the chairman has performed excellently well.
“Uwemedimo has redefined the office of the chairman. He is one chairman that has commissioned too many projects; Chairman, you have done well. Going by the way you have handled the affairs of Uyo, we can comfortably say that you have done excellently well. Little wonder the people of Uyo are behind you.”
The former ALGON boss said that the chairman has used the resources of Uyo to develop Uyo.
” You have used the resources of Uyo to plant things in Uyo. Thank you for showing that things can be done by a Local Government Chairman.
“The verification team from the Governor said that you did well, the House of Assembly team came for an oversight function, they couldn’t find any fault in your leadership, keep doing what you are doing,” he said.
The commissioner lauded the state governor for making Uyo a priority through allocation of projects and appointments, adding that the governor’s performance has made his second term bid easier.
The Governor of the State, Pastor Umo Eno who was represented by the commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh said that the news of the performance of the chairman has transcended
Uyo, adding that he is proud of Dr Udo.
The Governor further said that the chairman is an example of leaders the state should produced.
In his remarks, Secretary to the Government, Enobong Uwah , who was represented by his wife, Dr Inemesit Uwah commended the council helmsman for his leadership style, humility and love for his people.
Other speakers at the event, which included Hon. Monday Eyo Chairman LGSC, Hon. Anietie Eka Chairman UCCDA, Otuekong Prince Ekerette Ekpenyong, HSA, Urban Development, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, Member AKHA, Dr. John Etim, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Trade and Investment and Edidem Sylvanus Okon, the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, all commended the council boss for his exceptional performance.
