Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has named Bukayo Saka as England’s most important player.
Saka was voted Man of the Match as the Three Lions eliminated Switzerland in the quarter-final of Euro 2024.
The Arsenal winger equalized after Breel Embolo had given the Swiss the lead in the second half.
The 22-year-old was also successful during the penalty shoot-out, as Jordan Pickford kept out Manuel Akanji’s effort.
“I would go as far as to say that Bukayo Saka is the most important England player,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports.
He added: “I am looking at the team and in tournament football we are doing the right thing – we are moving in an upwards direction.”
