Daredevil bandits terrorising the people of Garam, a community in Niger State, returned on Saturday morning and kidnapped a pregnant woman and four other persons.

The residents of the community had suffered a series of attacks from bandits between December 2023 and February 2024.

The spate of attacks led to the deployment of security personnel to the community which brought a moment of respite.

However, the moment of respite was brought to an end early Saturday morning when bandits attacked the community again.

Garam shares a boundary with Kuduru, another border community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

A resident of the community who preferred anonymity said the bandits arrived at 3 am on Saturday, and went straight to the house of the victims to kidnap them.

The source said the bandits did not shoot in the air in order not to alert security men in the area.

“We learnt that they came at 3 am. They kidnapped five people including a pregnant woman alongside her child and husband.

“They forced their way into the building by forcing the door open. They came silently without shooting any gun like they used to do,” the source said.
