Transfer: Stemmer urges Orlando Pirates to sign Nwabali

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Thabang Stemmer has pinpointed what Stanley Nwabali would bring to the Sea Robbers should they sign him this summer.

Pirates are reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing the goal-minder.

Nwabali caught the attention of many this season, particularly with his stellar displays at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Saudi clubs, El-Ettifaq, Queen Park Rangers and Kaizer Chiefs are among the clubs vying for his signature.

Pirates recently released goalkeepers Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane following the expiration of their contracts

Stemmer believes Nwabali would add more depth to the goalkeeping position should he join the Buccaneers.

“The reason Pirates released the two, I think it’s because they want to beef up with Stanley Nwabali,” said Stemmer to Kickoff.

“Even when I was still playing, Pirates always beefed up with top goalkeepers. All the big teams need top goalkeepers.

“Remember Pirates go deeper in all competitions. If Nwabali comes, it would be a good thing for Pirates. We need competition.”
