Ogunmodede takes responsibility for Remo Stars’ title miss

Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has accepted full responsibility for the club’s failure to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

The Ikenne club finished in second position for the second consecutive season, with Rangers claiming the title.

The previous season they lost out to Enyimba in the title race.

Remo Stars will now make their second appearance in the CAF Champions League next season.

Ogunmodede claimed the target was for the club to win their maiden NPFL title this season and expressed disappointment they were unable to achieve the objective.

“For my personal target, I term it as a failure for me because the target from the beginning of the season was clear—it was to be one step ahead of what we were last season.

“We were second last season, and we wanted to be first this season, but unfortunately, we slipped and finished second,” Ogunmodede said via the club’s X account.

“Last season (2022/23) was an abridged league, and this (2023/24) was a marathon, so it’s different lessons from different formats. We just need to accept our fate.
