Former French footballer, Patrice Evra, has slammed the officials in Netherlands’ 0-0 draw with France in the ongoing Euro 2024 championship in Germany.
He believes that the Dutch side was denied a clear goal during the match.
Evra said that the Video Assistant Referee, VAR officials, made a mistake when they canceled Xavi Simons’s goal in the second half for offside.
Evra criticized the officials on Sony Sports Network’s Football Extraaa, saying the VAR’s decision was “shocking.”
He joked that the legendary singer, Stevie Wonder was present at the VAR checking room during the match.
“It’s a shocking decision, that should be a goal. Someone should tell me about this rule.
“The Dutch player was not blocking Maignan’s view. Maybe the person sitting in the VAR room tonight was Stevie Wonder.
“It’s a clear goal. As a Frenchman, I should be finding an excuse, but I can’t; it’s a goal,” Evra said.
