Commissioner for Aviation in Cross River State, Captain Eno Utum Inah (Rtd.) has disclosed that the state government has resuscitated the Aero-Cally Airline to increase flights to the Margaret Ekpo International Airport during the Calabar Carnival.
Cally Air, established by erstwhile Prof Ben Ayade’s administration, now jointly owned by the state government and Aero Contractors, became inactive due to a lack of Air Operating Licence.
In a statement, he said Aero Cally will return to Calabar to cushion the effects of Ibom Air’s alleged suspension.
He said the state government has brokered an agreement with Air Peace to also increase its flight services to Calabar, ahead of the Carnival Calabar International Festival in December.
There were reports that Ibom Air suspended flights to the airport during the yuletide season because of technical challenges.
According to the Commissioner, Aero Cally will commence flight operations to Calabar next week Thursday, 30th November, 2023.
Capt Inah called on air travellers to remain calm as flight interventions have been perfected for the Carnival and Yuletide celebrations.
