Obaship tussle: Ekosin Ruling House protests alleged imposition of candidate in Osun

Ruling houses in Ekosin town, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, have rejected the selection of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin.

This is as they also revealed that Olagunju is an impostor and not a member of any ruling house in the town.

Led by Kayode Asa, their spokesperson, the Nyanbilolu Ruling House, in a press conference in Osogbo on Friday, also accused appointees of the Ademola Adeleke government of reckless and flagrant abuse of office and power.

The ruling houses also noted that the actions of the political office holders were a sheer disobedience to the rule of law.

Asa, during the press conference, also alleged that appointees of the state government had nocturnally appointed Olagunju as Akosin. Listing the demands, the houses said it was necessary for peace and development in the town.

The demands include, “That the Abere fake presentation of instruments of office to Kazali Olagunju should be withdrawn immediately.

“That the state government should respect the judiciary and allow the ongoing court process to run through as they had earlier promised us.

“That Kazali Olagunju should stop parading himself as Akosin of Ekosin and no privilege should be accorded to him in any form until the determination of a case in court.

“That Kazali Olagunju is not from the Nyanbilolu ruling house or any other ruling house in Ekosin and should not be made the Akosin as that will lay a bad precedent for future generations.”

Last week, some members of the ruling houses in Ekosin protested to the council secretariat after it was alleged that Olagunju was presented with a staff of office on June 11, 2024, in the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The family, through Asa, disclosed that the actions were taken after it went to court and the government officials lied that they had not imposed any candidate for the stool of the Akosin on them.

While declaring that the selection was illegal, Asa stated that the ruling house had not seen a report of any State Executive Council Meeting where the ratification of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin was made.

He revealed that, “We only started seeing the picture of the presentation on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and we are forced to ask the following questions;”

They also challenged Governor Adeleke and asked him not to usurp the functions of the judiciary.
