Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai has admitted concerns over the goalkeeping situation in the team.
Current number one, Francis Uzoho has come under intense criticisms following his poor displays in recent outings for the three-time African champions.
Udinese shot stopper, Maduka Okoye, who was once the team’s first choice also struggled to inspire confidence when selected.
Rufai, one of the best goalkeepers to have come out of Africa, aknowledged the situation but has called for a collective response from the entire team.
“Yes, we have a goalkeeping problem, but it’s not that we don’t have quality goalkeepers,” the 60-year-old told BBC Sports Africa.
“They need to be courageous, they must be strong and not let the criticisms demoralise them. The entire team should rise up to the occasion.”
