Police arrest 4 suspected burglars in Lafia, recover stolen items

The Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested four suspects linked to the burglary of an electronics store in the Rimi Uku area of Lafia, the state capital.

The arrest, which took place on Sunday morning, followed a complaint lodged at the ‘A’ Division of the Nigeria Police.

According to a statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects were found with four Kapital solar batteries and two 32-inch LG television sets, which were identified as stolen goods.

Nansel said the arrested suspects have been identified as Sa’ad Kashina, 24; Bawa Saidu, 30; Sagir Mohammed, 28; and Isiaka Mohammed, 20 — all residents of Doma and Lafia.

He further stated that, “Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to selling four laptops, which are part of the stolen items in Makurdi, Benue State at the rate of Thirty Thousand Naira.”

In a related development, Nansel confirmed the arrest of another suspect, Bissan Mark, from Angwan Mission, Masaka, Karu Local Government Area.

He said that Mark was found in possession of a locally fabricated revolver pistol and a knife after a search warrant was executed at his residence.

The Police PRO stated that the Commissioner of Police Umar Shehu Nadada has directed Divisional Police Officers to conduct thorough investigations into the cases and ensure the suspects are promptly prosecuted in court.
