Ughelli-Ohoro forest killings: NPF recovers 10 rifles, neutralize hoodlums

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the recovery of 10 out of 13 police arms carted away by assailants in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli, Delta State, where some police operatives were ambushed and murdered.

The Force Headquarters made this disclosure in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to him, “Leveraging on the recent charge on succinct intelligence gathering and sharing for effective operational deployments by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) made significant strides in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and restore security in Delta State and beyond.”

Adejobi explained that the rifles were recovered during a coordinated operation by operatives of the FID-IRT who engaged the suspects in a gun duel which led to the neutralization of some of the hoodlums.

He disclosed that the police operatives successfully reclaimed 10 of the stolen weapons, and recovered some arms used by the assailants.

Additionally, the NPF revealed that it has effectively addressed the kidnapping crisis that has plagued the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with the arrest of six members of the notorious kidnapping gang terrorizing the area.

The statement further stated that the suspects are currently in custody, cooperating with ongoing investigations.

It reassured the public that the police under the leadership of IGP Egbetokun will continue to employ all necessary measures to combat criminal activities across the nation as the safety and security of Nigerian citizens remain the top priority.
