Former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards has handed Arsenal two signings to make this summer transfer window if they want to win the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners narrowly missed the Premier League title, finishing two points behind Manchester City after a dramatic final day despite a 2-1 victory over Everton.
Mikel Arteta’s side had one of their best seasons in history, fueling optimism for a future title win, with some suggesting they are just a couple of key signings away from breaking their 20-year title drought.
Richards, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, emphasized the need for reinforcements.
According to him, Arsenal need a new striker and a defensive midfielder, adding that Gabriel Jesus has not met expectations at Emirates Stadium.
“They need a striker. In certain moments, in big games Man City have got an array of talent that can change games. I think Arsenal have done that at times with Trossard,” Richards said.
“I think Jesus has not lived up to the expectations of what we all thought. So they need a striker and a defensive midfielder as well to play in there with Declan Rice but apart from that I think they are all good.
“They need to buy quality rather than quantity so that they don’t disrupt the team too much. But I think they’ve had an astonishing season and are up against Man City who are top of the tree so they can be proud of themselves. Definitely an improvement from last season.”
