Ekiti State Government has appealed to residents of Eda Oniyo in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the State to remain calm over the attack on the community.
The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, assured that the situation had been brought under control.
Olatunbosun, who noted that one person from the community was reportedly killed in the fracas, stressed that soldiers, police and members of the Amotekun Corps had moved to the scene immediately to curtail the crisis.
He explained that available information indicated that the boundary dispute between Eda Oniyo Ekiti and Obo Ayegunle in Kwara State escalated when armed men from Obo Ayegunle attacked Eda Oniyo on Saturday.
The Commissioner, however, assured that additional troops had already moved to the area to protect the community, while the Army formation in Kwara State had been contacted to deploy troops along the Kwara side of the border in order to curtail further attack from both sides.
Reiterating the commitment of the Ekiti State Government to fostering peace and security, Olatunbosun stressed the need for calm while the security agencies took charge of the situation, assuring that the perpetrators and their accomplices would be fished out and brought to justice.
He expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the quick recovery of those affected by the incident.
