Ebonyi Assembly confirms Nwifuru’s commissioner nominee

Ebonyi State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed a commissioner nominee, Prince Collins Emeka Igboke to serve as a member of the state cabinet.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Onah who presided over the plenary, read a letter from the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru requesting the House to screen him as a commissioner nominee.

According to the letter, the nomination was in fulfillment of the governor’s pledge during the burial of their father, late Ezeogo Igboke Ewa of Umuogharu autonomous community in Ezza North council area who was shot dead in his palace before last year’s general elections.

Moving motion for the confirmation, the Leader of the House, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, representing Afikpo North West, described the decision of the governor as acceptable considering the positive contribution to promoting the well-being of the state as a founding father and traditional ruler who was suddenly murdered by criminals for no just cause.

While seconding the motion, Hon. Barrister Innocent Chikaodili Nomeh, representing Ezza North West, also backed his view, describing the Governor’s action as a test case that would encourage more people to be more patriotic and support the government’s activities for speedy human and infrastructural development.

He described the nominee as highly qualified for the job

The Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Chinedu Onah put the confirmation into vote and it was unanimously adopted.

He directed the clerk of the House to convey a memo to the governor informing him of the screening and clearance of the nominee.
