Father drags sons to court over alleged assault, theft

A father living in Lagos, Ade Olowopopo has filed a lawsuit against his two sons, Kunle and Mayowa which alleged they assaulted their sister Bisi Olowopopo, and stole his belongings in Lakwe Lekki, Lagos State

At an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Magistrate O. M. Ajayi arraigned the Olowopopos on five counts that included assault, breaking, stealing, and posing a threat to life.

When the plaintiff was abroad in 2019, the defendants committed the crime, according to prosecutor Paul Ugorji, who spoke in court.

According to him, the defendants broke into their father’s compound, beat up their older sister, and drove her out. They then took a block moulding machine and a N7 million Toyota 4Runner Jeep without getting his permission.

A family dispute has developed from information presented in court that the sons belonged to Olowopopo’s second wife, with whom he disagrees, particularly on the boys’ paternity.

Ugorji stated that the acts committed, violated and were against Sections 411, 172, 287, 56, and 168(d) of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws.
