Edo Speaker apologizes to Assembly staff over suspension of three lawmakers

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, on Tuesday tendered an unreserved apology to staff of the House over the altercations and rowdiness that trailed the suspension of three lawmakers at Monday’s plenary.

DAILY POST recalls that the Speaker had suspended three lawmakers for allegedly plotting to impeach him and other principal officers.

Agbebaku, who suspended the lawmakers indefinitely, also accused them of being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and remove the leadership of the House, as well as making demonic incantations with fetish objects at the premises of the House.

The suspended lawmakers include two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members and one All Progressives Congress (APC) member.

The lawmakers are Okogbe Donald, PDP, Akoko-Edo II, Addeh Isibor, APC, Esan North-East I and Iyamu Bright, PDP, Orhionnwon II.

Apologizing for the rowdiness, the Speaker said, “I wish to apologize to the staff of this Assembly for what happened yesterday during plenary. It was not our intention to create tension in the house.

“I am sure that this is not the first time you are experiencing such.

“We promise that it will not happen again. This apology is because we hold you in high esteem.”
