The Vice-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the North West, Garba Muhammad Datti has said that former Zamfara Governor, Bello Muhammad Matawalle will soon reclaim his mandate.
Matawalle is the current State Minister for Defence.
Datti stated that the appeal court judgment, which ousted the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governor, Dauda Lawal, gives confidence and fosters hope for a favourable outcome at the Supreme Court.
DAILY POST reported that the Court of Appeal on Friday nullified the victory of Lawal in the March 18 election and called for a rerun in three local government areas of the State.
According to a statement issued by Malam Musa Mailafiya Mada, APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Datti, praised Matawalle over his resounding victory, describing it as a crucial step toward reclaiming his mandate.
He noted that the victory vindicates the ruling party’s challenge to PDP’s triumph at the tribunal.
Datti further explained that the appeal court’s position that the tribunal failed to properly evaluate the evidence and that the appellants presented credible evidence speaks volumes to their conviction that the court is the last hope of the common man.
