Nigerian govt confirms electricity tariff reduction for Band A customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has confirmed electricity tariff reduction across eleven Electricity Distribution Companies.

Dafe Akpeneye, Commissioner of Legal, Licensing and Compliance at NERC, disclosed this in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Monday.

This comes against the backdrop of the recent announcement by Ikeja Electric that it has slashed the electricity tariff for band A customers to 206.80 per Kilowatt-hour from N225 per Kwh.

The disco stated that the implementation of the new tariff commenced on Monday, May 6, 2024.

The figure represents an N18.2 tariff reduction.

Reacting to the development, Akpeneye confirmed that the Commission had approved the reduction as announced by Ikeja Disco.

He noted that the reduction applies to all Discos across the country.
