Rivers tanker explosion: NDDC promises to assist victims

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has assured that it would provide necessary assistance to victims of the recent tanker explosion at Eleme, Rivers State.

The Representative of Rivers State of the NDDC Board, Tony Okocha gave the assurance on behalf of the Commission during a media briefing in Port Harcourt.

He sympathized with the victims of the incident, which resulted in the loss of lives and property worth billions of naira, and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

He also cautioned truck drivers plying that route to always drive with caution, considering the nature of the road, which is undergoing construction work.

Okocha commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for the quality and standard of the job that is being done on the East-West road.

DAILY POST reports that the tanker fire incident killed scores of people and burnt over 100 vehicles.
