Ex-Manchester City defender Gael Clichy has revealed some of the first words Pep Guardiola told the squad when he was appointed in 2016.
Clichy was playing for the Etihad club at the time, having joined from Arsenal.
According to him, Guardiola quickly made it clear that things were going to change.
Guardiola called that a “team of fat players” and claimed he had been watching them for one year.
In a conversation with Zack Nani, Clichy claimed Guardiola told the players: “I’ve known that I’ve been coming here for a year now and I’ve been watching you. You’re a team full of fat players.”
Clichy played for just one year under Guardiola before leaving for the Turkish league.
