Osun Chief Judge’s suspension confirms Adeleke’s incompetence – APC alleges

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Osun State has said the suspension of the Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo and the lingering furore it has attracted has further exposed the state governor, Ademola Adeleke as lacking what it takes to increase the fortune and prosperity of the state in all ramifications.

The Osun APC also dragged the Osun State House of Assembly into the mix.

Making the assertions in a statement, the Osun APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal said there was no reason for Governor Adeleke to be worried about the issue as it is pretty difficult for him to give what he does not possess.

DAILY POST recalled that even though Justice Dele Peters of the National Industrial Court, NIC, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, granted an interim injunction, restraining the governor from removing the CJ or terminating her appointment, Governor Adeleke announced the suspension of Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo and replaced her with Justice Yinka Afolabi.

However, DAILY POST gathered that Justice Afolabi refused to show up for his swearing-in on Friday.

Commenting on the development, Lawal said if Governor Adeleke is uninformed about the constitution, he had expected that the lawmakers would have guided him aright.

“The haphazard handling of the CJ’s suspension by the Osun State lawmakers further confirms the allegation by the public that nothing beneficial to the citizenry can evolve from the assembly

“One is safe to conclude that the House of Assembly under the speakership of Wale Egbedun has an image problem to contend with before the members of the public can take them seriously.

“The state assembly must, urgently, cure itself of the puppeteers brand it has earned for itself since inauguration,” Lawal counselled.

In reaction, however, the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP insisted that Adeleke’s clarifying actions on the Chief Judge were a sign of good leadership.

The state PDP also reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership style of the state governor and that of the State Assembly and chided the APC for lacking a deeper understanding of the dynamics of governance.

In a statement by Sunday Bisi, its Chairman on Sunday, the party added that the Governor has demonstrated competence and patriotism in his handling of state matters by clarifying issues and setting records straight from the budget 2024 and the state infra plan.

Bisi also said President Bola Tinubu has had cause to adjust or reverse policy pronouncements depending on prevailing situations.

“The public is aware of more than seven instances where the current Federal Government directly reversed itself in compliance with new facts and proofs. The Federal Government always justified such changes in policy on new facts and superior information.

“In the case of issues around the Chief Judge, Governor Adeleke had done the right thing by communicating the development to the National Judicial Council for action. The NJC had received the Governor’s letter since last Thursday, putting paid to all ambiguities and misinformation.

“The sign of a good leader is the capacity to set records straight in cases of misinformation. This is what Mr Governor has done.”
