Taraba tragedy: 12 years old boy shoots younger brother dead in Jalingo

Tragedy has struck in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State as a twelve years old boy was reported to have shot his brother dead.

The twelve years old boy, who was identified as David Kingsley, was said to have shot dead his six years old brother, Solomon Kingsley, on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred at the family compound in the Nukkai area of Jalingo metropolis.

Efforts by journalists to speak to the father of the children were not successful as he declined comments on the incident.

The man said he cannot speak because he is bereaved.

When contacted, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba Command, Kwache Gambo, pleaded with our correspondent to exercise patience.

The Command is yet to issue a statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.

Residents, who spoke with our reporter, said they all went into hiding when they heard the gunshot thinking it was bandits or kidnappers that invaded the area.

The residents, who confirmed that David mistakenly shot and killed his younger brother, could not confirm the source of the gun as the father of the children was not a security personnel.

The incident is coming barely a month after three children died in Didango Geita village of Karim-Lamido local government council of Taraba State, following an accidental discharge from a dane gun which they were alleged to be playing with.
