Former Real Madrid youth player Dani Lorenzo has made it clear he is not a millionaire.
The player recently became an internet sensation due to a viral video capturing his interaction with a fan.
It happened after Malaga CF beat Atletico Madrid B 1-0 on Sunday.
Lorenzo found himself in the spotlight for an exchange that showcased both the passion of football fans and the humility of players.
One supporter seized the opportunity to ask Lorenzo for his coveted match-worn shirt.
However, Dani Lorenzo politely explained that he was unable to give his away due to the club’s policies regarding the distribution of shirts.
Despite the initial refusal, the dedicated fan persisted and offered a meaningful gift that surprised everyone.
Pulling out a 50-euro note from his pocket, the fan offered to buy Lorenzo’s shirt.
Taken aback but moved by the fan’s genuineness, Lorenzo took the money and finished the trade.
The moment was captured by television cameras and subsequently shared on the popular sports program El Chiringuito.
Lorenzo took a moment to reflect on the incident after the game.
“It happened so fast. Just so people understand, we’re in Primera RFEF, I’m not a millionaire, I wish I were,” he told Tribuna.
“We’re given a limited number of shirts to give away, and I had already distributed mine.
“After that, the club charges us for additional shirts.
“Now, upon reflection, I realize I shouldn’t have taken it, I did it with all the good faith in the world, and I hope people understand.”
