A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Alhaji Umaru Adamu, has expressed fear that the party may encounter serious challenges if a governorship rerun must be conducted.
Adamu lamented that the internal division in the party has been brought into sharp focus, saying that it lost woefully in the 2023 general election due to the same internal crisis.
“There is no doubt that there are serious internal crisis rocking the party in the State due to political supremacy of the leaders of the party”, he said.
He revealed this while fielding questions from newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, stressing that the APC is gradually losing popularity in the State.
According to him, the party needs serious reform to enable it to forge ahead, pointing out that no political party can claim to be great without unity among its key members.
“If there will be any governorship rerun in the State, the APC will be in serious trouble due to the internal crisis in the party,” he added.
Adamu advised the elders of the party to reunite and form formidable political alliances with other parties to enable it to battle squarely with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, saying that without that, the ruling party will relegate APC to the background.
