1. Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle on Saturday described the Northern Elders’ Forum as a political burden to the region, saying that they do not speak for Northerners. He said the threats issued by the group against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are “reprehensible and naïve”.

2. The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has cleared all 16 aspirants for the Ondo Governorship primary on April 20. The seven-man Sen. Joshua Lidani-led Screening Committee gave all the aspirants the nod to contest the primary.

3. Security operatives have arrested two suspected Yoruba Nation agitators for their alleged role in the invasion of the Oyo Government Secretariat on Saturday morning. The duo, an old man with grey hair and a middle-aged man whose name cannot be confirmed, was arrested by the police with flags and some paraphernalia of the Yoruba Nation.

4. The Naira on Friday experienced huge appreciation at the official market, trading at N1,142.38 to the dollar. Data from the official trading platform of the FMDQ Exchange, a platform that oversees the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM, revealed that the Naira gained N88.23.

5. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the over N1 trillion which would be saved from the withdrawal of electricity subsidy will be reinvested into improving power supply and the provision of social services in the country. Idris stated this in Kaduna yesterday as a guest of the popular Hausa audience participatory programme of Radio Nigeria Kaduna called “Hannu Da Yawa.”

6. The Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, on Friday neutralised 12 terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds, the information officer, OPHD, Lt. Suleiman Omale, said on Saturday in a statement.

7. Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Ondo State have elected 627 delegates ahead of its primary scheduled for April 25th. The delegates are to elect a candidate of the party for the November governorship polls.

8. Multiple blasts ripped through Jerusalem as missiles and drones fired by Iran arrived in Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, had launched a direct attack on Israel in retaliation for the killing of its men and two generals on April 1, 2024.

9. Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has promised the people that his administration will do everything to liberate them from bad governance and oppression. Fubara revealed this at a Thanksgiving rally organised by the SIMplified Movement at Ibaka in Okrika local government area of Rivers State, on Saturday.

10. Organized labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, has demanded N615,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the country. An impeccable source, who is an executive of organised labour, made the revelation on Saturday.
