NAFDAC seals supermarket in Ibadan over alleged sale of fake products

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has sealed one of the supermarkets in Ibadan.

DAILY POST learnt that the supermarket, PINNACLE, located in Dugbe area of Ibadan was sealed over alleged selling of fake products.

The supermarket had subsequently directed its customers to go to its branch office in Challenge as a result of the sealing by the regulatory agency.

A NAFDAC staff member who preferred not to be named told DAILY POST on Friday that the enforcement unit of the agency sealed the supermarket.

According to the source, the owner of the supermarket has earlier been invited but failed to honour the invitation.

He added that the refusal of the owner made the agency seal the supermarket.

The source, during a telephone conversation with DAILY POST, said: “Yes, the supermarket has been sealed by NAFDAC.

“The enforcement unit came from Lagos to seal it. They had earlier invited the owner but she refused to appeal. You know that NAFDAC does not just seal premises, they have invited her but she did not show up.

“The enforcement unit (which) came from Lagos can go anywhere to seal premises. They can go to the North or the South. It is not the Ibadan office that sealed it. By Monday, you will get full details.”
