NNL boss canvasses community ownership of football clubs

Nigeria National League, NNL, chairman, George Aluo has called for community ownership of football clubs in the country.

Aluo said that it’s time for government to hands off the running of football in the country.

He believed that the clubs can be best managed by individuals and communities as a whole.

Aluo disclosed this during his birthday celebration on Friday.

“It’s unfortunate that governments are still managing professional football clubs in this country, and our football can never grow with government ownership of clubs,” he stated.

“All we need to do and encourage is to have community based clubs and private ownership of clubs, and things will begin to change.

“When you look at Remo Stars that is privately owned, you will discover that the club is well managed without government subvention.”
