Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has advised manager, Jurgen Klopp to play a second-string side when they face Atalanta next week and prioritise the Premier League going forward.
The Reds were thrashed 3-0 by the Italian side in the first-leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
It leaves Jurgen Klopp’s men with a huge mountain to climb in the second leg.
Klopp had been hoping to leave Anfield with a Treble, as Liverpool eye the league, the Europa League and the Carabao Cup – which they’ve already won.
Carragher, writing on X on Thursday however, believes the chance to win the Europa League is all but gone.
He wrote: “Awful result and performance from Liverpool, the only consolation about getting beat so heavily is Jurgen should play a full second string in the second leg and go all in for the league!”
The Reds are in the midst of a three-way battle for the title as Arsenal sit top and Manchester City sit third.
There’s just a point between the teams as the games continue to come thick and fast.
