Suspects behind Kogi killings arrested – Gov Ododo

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, on Wednesday, announced the arrest of the culprits behind the recent killings in the state.

DAILY POST recalls that about 25 people were killed last week in Bagana, Omala Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen, suspected to be armed herdsmen, were said to have also destroyed property worth millions of naira in the community during the attack.

The Governor said the perpetrators, as well as their sponsors, had been arrested, adding that an investigation was ongoing to confirm the extent of participation of those arrested.

Ododo addressed those criticising his government, describing them as “noisemakers and those without stake as far as governance is concerned.”

He said “Reacting to noisemakers, and those that do not have a stake as far as governance is concerned is not part of the mandate given to me by the good people of Kogi State and Mr President.

“The crisis in Bagana in the Omala Local Government Area did not start today. It has been in existence since over 45 years ago, precisely 1978. We are doing our best to make sure peace is restored in the area.

“As I speak to you today, the suspected sponsors have been arrested, investigations are ongoing. They are giving us useful information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects. As soon as we are done with that investigation, the report will be made known to the public.”
