South African footballer shot dead

Former South Africa junior international Luke Fleurs has been killed in a carjacking in Johannesburg, police revealed on Thursday.

The 24-year-old was shot in the chest at a gas station Wednesday night.

It is understood that the assailants drove off in Fleurs’ vehicle.

“While waiting to be served by the attendant, he was confronted by two armed males,” police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, told reporters.
