Chelsea vs Manchester United: Team news, possible lineups, key match insights for EPL clash

As the Premier League action heats up, all eyes are on Stamford Bridge as Chelsea prepares to tackle Manchester United in a highly anticipated midweek clash tonight.

Both teams are eager to secure a crucial victory that could potentially shape their season’s trajectory, with Chelsea aiming to move away from the second half of the Premier League table and Manchester United seeking to climb higher in the table.

Chelsea enters the match with a disappointing 2-2 draw against Burnley in their previous outing.

The Blues have been impressive under manager Mauricio Pochettino as they currently sit in 12th position on the Premier League table with 40 points from 28 matches.

However, Manchester United won’t be an easy opponent to overcome. Despite a recent dip in form, the Red Devils still occupy the 6th position on the log with 48 points from 29 matches.

Man United head to the game after playing a 1-1 draw against Brentford in their last game on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag’s side won 2-1 in the reverse fixture against Chelsea at Old Trafford last December.

In terms of team news, Chelsea will be boosted by the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka and Robert Sanchez. The three players are back after missing the Burnley game last Saturday.

Malo Gusto should also be fit to play against Man United having avoided injury after being taken off in the 87th minute in their last game.

Ben Chilwell is sidelined through illness after missing out last weekend due to a knock to his knee, which he sustained while on international duty with the Three Lions of England.

The likes of Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Lesley Ugochukwu, Reece James, Levi Colwill and Romeo Lavia are all still unavailable due to injury.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be with Amad Diallo, who returns from his one-match suspension, having missed the draw at Brentford.

The likes of Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are out. Raphael Varane could also be a doubt after being substituted early against Brentford, although manager Erik Ten Hag suggested the Frenchman was taken off as a precaution.

Chelsea’s possible XI: Petrovic, Gusto, Disasi, Cucurella, Badiashile, Gallagher, Caicedo, Fernandez, Sterling, Palmer and Jackson.

Man United’s possible XI: Onana, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Mainoo, Fernandes, Garnacho, Hojlund and Rashford.
The kick-off time for the match is 8.15 pm.
