AFCON winner backs Finidi to get Super Eagles job

Former Super Eagles defender Juwon Oshaniwa has backed Finidi George as the ‘right man’ to lead the team, reports DAILY POST.

Finidi has been placed in charge of the Super Eagles in an interim capacity pending the appointment of a substantive head coach.

The former winger, also the head coach of Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba, has won a lot of admirers following the Super Eagles’ 2-1 friendly win against the Black Stars of Ghana last week.

Oshaniwa has joined the list of former players and pundits rooting for the 53-year-old to get the job permanently.

“The fact remains, he’s a good man,” Oshaniwa, a member of the Super Eagles side that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, was quoted by Sports 247.

“He’s been in the course of the job so far, doing well in it as well. I know it’s a different ball game, club side and the national team.

“But notwithstanding, with the kind of experience that he’s got playing on the national team as well, playing that level of football across the globe, I think he is ripe and okay for the job.”

Finidi will take charge of the Super Eagles for the second time against Mali tonight.
