NFF suspends referee Abdulmalik from officiating in NPFL

The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has suspended centre referee Abdul Malik from officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

Malik incurred the wrath of the committee following his poor handling of the Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 27 encounter between Katsina United and Abia Warriors.

The referee cancelled a legitimate goal scored by Abia Warriors’ Samson Obi in the game.

Abia Warriors eventually lost the game 2-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

“Given your decisions that adversely affect not only the outcome of the match between Katsina United FC and Abia Warriors FC played on Sunday, 24h Match, 2024 in Katsina but your actions equally bring the game to disrepute, I am directed to notify you that you have been stepped down with immediate effect from the league until further notice,” reads the letter addressed to Malik and Bauchi Referee Council.

The NFF has clamped down on poor officiating in the NPFL this season, sanctioning erring match officials.
