The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 17, AIG Abiodun Asabi, has expressed the determination of the men and officers under his command to enhance cooperation with the Ondo and Ekiti state governments in addressing security challenges and combating crimes within the states.
During his official visit to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Akure, Asabi emphasised the critical need for synergy between the law enforcement agencies in the zone and the respective state governments to effectively tackle the prevailing insecurity issues.
Asabi stressed that the collaborative efforts between the police zone and the Ondo and Ekiti State governments are essential for successfully curbing the rising tide of insecurity.
He stressed that a united front is indispensable in combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the region.
Asabi explained that the white paper contained various measures to stem the tide of security challenges bedevilling the zone.
“We should not underestimate the capability of the police in the two states; hence, what is needed is the support of the state governments in boosting our capacity for the benefit of the people.”
In his response, Aiyedatiwa expressed the readiness of his administration to collaborate with police to achieve desired results in the area of insecurity.
Aiyedatiwa pledged that the state government will study the proposal while swift action will be taken to tackle and chase criminals out of the state.
