Hardship: Tinubu promises to support state governors to banish hunger

President Bola Tinubu says his administration will offer the needed support to the 36 state governors to enable them banish hunger and end the economic hardship in the country.

The President spoke when he inaugurated tractors and other agricultural equipments in Minna, Niger State capital.

Tinubu admitted that though Nigerians are facing hardship due to some current policies embarked upon by his administration, “these challenges are surmountable in due course”.

He also tasked the state governors to collaborate where necessary to provide lands and as well make adequate provision for cattle rearing for livestock farming in a cordial and peaceful environment.

Earlier, in his address, Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago disclosed that the state has secured $20 million from foreign partners to cultivate 1 million hectares of land to produce 50 million metrics tones of assorted grains annually which is expected to generate N500 billion yearly within 7 years.

He explained that through the various agricultural initiatives being adopted by his administration, over one million direct and indirect jobs would be created for youths and women in the state.

Bago also reiterated the commitment of his administration to tackle banditry and other crimes, while assuring that all the forest hideouts used by the hoodlums would be cultivated to ensure that they have no save haven in the state.
