Five passengers on Saturday evening lost their lives in a lone accident that occurred along the busy Ore/Lagos expressway.
No fewer than seven travellers sustained varying degrees of injuries in the fatal accident.
The vehicle, a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number FKG 405 FX, veered into the bush within the Akinfosile axis of Okitipupa Local Council Area of Ondo State while on high speed
The ill-fated bus was on transit from Akure, the state capital to Lagos State when the accident happened.
According to a source, the vehicle was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle before it plunged into the bush.
While confirming the fatal accident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed that the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m..
The PPRO in the state called on those whose relatives travelled from Akure to Lagos earlier on Saturday to reach out to them to ascertain their status.
She maintained that the remains of the deceased travellers had been deposited at the morgue while the injured passengers were moved to a private hospital for treatment.
“Investigation is going on to unravel the cause of the accident, while effort is on to contact the families of the passengers involved in the accident.
