Police Academy admissions: PSC chair insists on level playing field for candidates

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission and co-Chairman of the Governing Council of the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, Dr Solomon Arase, has directed that there must be a level playing field for all candidates seeking admission.

Ikechukwu Ani, Head Press and Public Relations, in a statement on Tuesday, said the PSC chairman stated this while addressing the management of the Academy.

DAILY POST recalls that the Academy is currently screening candidates for admission.

Arase noted that the admission processes must involve all the agencies that make up the Police Recruitment Board.

“The Board is headed by the Police Service Commission and has members from the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission and Police Colleges,” he said.

He noted that scores for the different stages of the assessment must be in tune with best practices and requirements of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.

He said in places where there were glitches in the computer based tests, it should be addressed so as not to deny some candidates the opportunity of a level playing field.

The PSC chairman also demanded that every candidate must be allowed to go through all the selection processes after which the Recruitment Board would decide on numbers for admission based on equality of states.

He also made a case for gender sensitivity.
