Aisha Yesufu, a rights activist and a chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, on Wednesday said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of heading towards self-destruction ahead of the governorhip election in Edo State.
Yesufu said PDP would find it difficult asking the people of Edo North for votes during the forthcoming governorship election due to the impeachment notice served on the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu.
DAILY POST reported that the Edo State House of Assembly had served Shaibu an impeachment notice amid his face-off with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Reacting, Yesufu queried the rationale of impeaching Shaibu when the party was preparing for an election.
Posting on X, she wrote: “PDP is on another road of self-destruction, let me put my thoughts down as I did in 2021 telling them how to revamp themselves for the 2023 elections
“With what PDP is currently doing to Phillip Shuaibu they will then go to Edo North and ask for votes?
“Now that they are self-destructing they will not have sense and call themselves to order.
Of what use is this impeachment? As a deputy Governor, Shuaibu does not have any power.
“He can be sidelined to nothingness. Which has already happened. Deputy Governor na like a spare tyre.”
