Enyimba forward Chijoke Mbaoma says the side’s victory over Gombe United was expected.
The People’s Elephant defeated Gombe United 4-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, on Thursday.
Mbaoma scored a brace, while Uche Collins and Imot Obot netted a goal each in the game.
Enyimba moved to the top of the table with the victory.
Mbaoma believes that with consistency, the team can remain at the summit.
“It was expected because before the game we all believed that we are going to score more than three goals in the game,” he told the club’s media.
“Scoring my first brace of the season makes me really happy.
“We are so excited and it’s good to see Enyimba at the top of the table.
“We will stay consistent henceforth to remain in the position.”
