Police raid suspected kidnappers’ den, arrest 109 illegal miners in Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Police Command, led by Commissioner CP Umar Shehu Nadada, in collaboration with the Vigilante group of Nasarawa Eggon LGA, recently conducted a successful raid on a suspected kidnappers’ den at Alogani mountains.

This was conveyed in a press release signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command.

According to the statement, the operation, which was part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state, targeted a mountain stretch from Mada station to Wakama known to be used by kidnappers as a hideout.

However, upon arrival, it was discovered that the kidnappers had fled, abandoning their camps.

Nansel stated that, despite the absence of the kidnappers, the raid resulted in the arrest of 109 suspects engaged in the illegal mining of solid minerals such as Topaz, Tin, and Aquamarine.

Various items, including a Dane gun, cutlasses, knives and illegally mined solid minerals, were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

The arrested suspects are said to have been profiled, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain their involvement in other criminal activities.

Nansel said the Commissioner of Police has reiterated the command’s commitment to continuous clampdowns and raids on criminal hideouts in the state.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered continuous clampdown/ raids on criminal hideouts in the state and warned all criminals to turn a new leaf or meet their Waterloo.”
