Edo 2024: Ex-Deputy gov, Lucky Imasuen withdraws from APC guber primary

Lucky Imasuen, a former deputy governor of Edo State, has pulled out of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primaries in the state.

Imasuen said he withdrew from race because the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, zoned the ticket to Edo Central Senatorial district.

In an open letter, Imasuen said: “I have come to the conclusion that since members of our National Working Committee (NWC), in their wisdom, have expressed their preference for zoning the governorship position to Edo Central Senatorial District, it is wise to align with the decision of the party.

“I am immensely grateful for your unwavering support and belief in me, throughout this journey. Your dedication and passion have been the driving force behind my campaign.”

The Edo APC governorship primary election is scheduled today, (Saturday).

On February 10, Imasuen and 11 other governorship hopefuls were screened and cleared to contest in the party’s primary.
