NEMA seeks collaboration among stakeholders to tackle disaster management

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has sought inter-agency synergy among disaster and emergency responders to save lives and property in the event of an occurrence.

The agency made this call during a stakeholders’ meeting on mitigating disaster in Osogbo on Thursday, organised by its South West Zonal Office, Ibadan, in collaboration with the Osun State Emergency Management Agency, OSEMA.

The Assistant Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, South West Office, Olanrewaju Kazeem, said coordination and synergy among disaster response units and agents were important in managing disasters or crises.

While citing the bomb blast incident in Ibadan, Kazeem said it was the support and synergy of stakeholders, response agencies and the people that helped to control and manage the chaotic after-effects of the situation.

He charged disaster and crisis management agencies and departments to form a working partnership with each other so that when disaster happens, they can call on each other and get the needed support to manage it.
