Benue APC disowns Alia over Omakolo’s appointment as chairman

The Benue State All Progressives Congress, APC, has disowned Governor Hyacinth Alia’s announcement of Benjamin Omakolo as chairman of the party in the State.

It said it would resist plots to undermine the party leadership and Constitution by anti-democratic agents bent on causing confusion within its ranks in the state.

This was disclosed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Daniel Ihomun, in a press statement on Thursday in Makurdi.

Ihomun said the party read on social media platforms that the suspended state Welfare Secretary of the APC, Hon. Benjamin Omakolo, has been inaugurated by Alia as acting Chairman of the party in the state.

He insisted that the action of the Governor is unknown to the party and is therefore null and void, having no effect whatsoever on the party.

He urged members of the APC at all levels and indeed the people of Benue State, to totally disregard the news.

According to him, “the National Secretariat of our great party has since restored the status of Comrade Austin Agada as member and state chairman of the APC in Benue State and all well meaning members of the party have returned to status quo.”
